Bandit Introduction
From Daelphinux
Introduction
Bandit is a wargame designed for beginners to get their feet wet in the world of hacking and using Linux. It is fairly simple, but will pose a sufficient challenge to get you started. To begin, you should review the bandit website at https://overthewire.org/wargames/bandit/ and read their overview.
I strongly urge you to attempt the challenges yourself, without reading my articles, unless you absolutely need assistance.
The Basics
In order to work through Bandit you will need the following:
- An SSH client
- This can be "puTTY" found at https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
- This can be a Linux Virtual machine (If you intend to use it to work through Bandit, you can follow Homelab Tutorials 00 and 01 to have a working Parrot Security virtual machine to use.
- Tenacity
- You will make mistakes; it will knock you down. Do not let it keep you down.
