Color Revolutions In America

If you look at Michael McFaul's works, or the CIA's field manuals (either one), you can distill out a number of requirements for "successful" revolutions. Wikipedia succinctly lists them as the following 7. I will elaborate on how these have happened, or are in a position to happen, and why we ABSOLUTELY have to be worried about the rise of Fascism in the United States.

1. A semi-autocratic rather than fully autocratic regime

We have just come out of an Administration who literally campaigned on, and was cheered for, removal of checks, balances, and controls that prevented unilateral control of the Government by the Executive. While these erosions have been going on for the last 50-60 years, the last 5 or so have been the worst in history. Our current government, which ran on the principle of "Nothing will fundamentally change", is now a semi-autocratic regime in direct opposition to the populist autocratic regime that came before.

2. An unpopular incumbent

In the next election we're going to have Biden as the Incumbent. He is currently fairly unpopular with anyone who isn't in the center to center-left. That's a pretty big field to have see you as unpopular and still hope to win a national election. He has severe and profound critics on both the Left and the Right.

3. A united and organized opposition

The bulk of the right, for their credit, seem to have finally figured out how the internet works and are putting together web-based social groups. This allows for creation of national groups and coordination. Much of this is spawning directly from, and spidering outward from, the prediliction of Alt-Right, Nazi, White Supremacist, and other such groups to use the internet to great effect. The tactics, techniqes, and procedures of the right-leaning, and far-right parties, are increasingly identical to common domestic terrorist and hate groups.

4. An ability to quickly drive home the point that voting results were falsified

Trump is using his bully pulpit, and his political affiliates and supporters are doing the same, to drive home the false narrative that the election was falsified and insecure. The "audit" going on in Arizona is a farce, it is not being handled correctly, and has wasted millions of dollars in equipment. To respond to Arizona officials being pissy about that: Any forensic investigation will take equipment out of rotation and will, depending on the investigation, preclude it from being used again. That's how digital forensics works. Moreover, this election was profoundly well done and secure, I have seen no reliable or verifiable data that anything has occurred in this election. Believing it was "stolen", "false", or otherwise bad is a tacit admission of inability to critically think.

5. Enough independent media to inform citizens about the falsified vote

Trump calls it the "Lying Media". This sounds awkward in English, it does not, however, sound awkward in the original German (Lügenpresse) and it has been a favorite of dictators and autocrats around the world since the early 1900s. If you can remove your supporters from believing mainstream media, or popular media, then you can give your final and most essential command "reject the evidence of your eyes and ears".

6. A political opposition capable of mobilizing tens of thousands or more demonstrators to protest electoral fraud

We haven't seen this... yet. More and more the Right and Alt-Right are becoming better at in-person mobilization. Protests and counter-protests controlled, funded, and managed by the Right and Alt-Right, are becoming more populated and more common. This is the next step. Everything up to this point we HAVE seen.

7. Divisions among the regime's coercive forces.

We're already seeing this at the highest levels: The Military is having public disagreements with the Executive (both in this and the previous regime), The Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial have had their tensions strained (seemingly intentionally... hmmmmm) over the last 4 years and that is starting to come to a head. This was largely brought about when McConnel decided to stonewall Merrick Garland's nominee to the Supreme court, and his encouragement for Trump to stack the court for the Right and Alt-Right.

All of these are occuring, now. Here. Not in some distant developing nation, or not in some fun TV Show. This is our lives that are on the line. This is our country that is on the line. If you are supporting these acts, if you are supporting Donald Trump or his supporters, you are a seditionist. You are actively, potentially unwillingly, participating in the overthrow of American democracy. Open your eyes, pay attention, understand.
